Popular Japanese series SLAM DUNK now goes ONLINE
One of the most popular series to come out of Japan in the 90's is now getting the online game treatment with the announcement of Slam Dunk Online.
Slam Dunk is a sports-themed manga authored by manga artist Inoue Takehiko and was first published back in 1990. It then had a wildly popular anime series that initially aired in October 1993 and ran for 101 episodes and 4 OAVs. It spawned a cult following with fans all over Asia, North America and a huge following in Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries. Slam Dunk follows the story of one Sakuragi Hanamichi as he joins the basketball team of Shohoku High School and dream of winning the national championship.
In October 22, Korean-based company Goorm had announced that they would be developing an online game of this series with another Korean company, DaewonMedia. Inoue Takehiko has also been brought on board and will be supervising the game creation and development.

Yey! Another Gaming post!
Have you ever wanted to become a superhero? Admit it, when you were young you'd imagine that you were Superman, Batman or even Wonder Woman having amazing superhuman abilities, fighting crime and saving day. I am sure some of us still have those fantasies. With DC Universe Online, you are sure to relive those fantasies.
DC Universe Online (DCUO) is an upcoming MMORPG based on the classic comic book universe of DC. Players will be able to create their own character, either a hero or villain and choose their city of origin. So far, famous cities like Metropolis and Gotham City has been confirmed.
The game is set to be available on the PC and the PS3. The game is going to allow you to interact with players on both platforms could actually create an widely various and expansive world.
The best news so far is that the game has been confirmed to have no subscription fee. From the looks of it too, the game is set to adopt a similar model to Guild Wars where you would purchase the game client and succeeding expansions instead of paying a monthly fee. A welcome to most geeks out there and people like me who really can't afford to budget for an online game.
You can read more about the features of DCUO in this Sony Insider article.
A look into the upcoming Guild Wars 2
Being a PC gamer, I am always in the look out for new potential games to occupy my time. I am typically picky about my games and want games that allow me to think but at the same time enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds that the game has to offer.
So when news came out a few weeks that the trailer for the upcoming sequel for Guild Wars was released I quickly watched it and even downloaded myself a copy. Guild Wars is an MMORPG that was produced by ArenaNet and published by NCSoft (the same makers of Lineage II). From what I have seen I am very impressed and can't wait till the game hits our shores.
Here is a trailer uploaded by the good folks from ArenaNet on Youtube. Enjoy!
Grand Chase Philippines pays tribute to Former President Cory Aquino
Grand Chase Philippines pays their respects to former President Cory Aquino by giving away special items and holding special events in honor of the great woman. Grand Chase is a free-to-play, two-dimensional side-scrolling MMORPG developed by the Korean company KOG Studios and is published by Level Up! Games.
Two events have been held to commemorate the former President. Anyone who logs in to Grand Chase from August 4-10 were given 2 special items, a yellow flower and a yellow ribbon good for seven days. Players can offer their flowers by going to the Grand Chase Park and offering the flowers on the altar. Also as a special tribute, 3 rainbows can be seen on August 5 to commemorate the burial of the former President.
The Grand Chase GM team indulged us by answering a few questions regarding the tribute. This short interview is courtesy of Lhyriance.
Q: Who thought of putting an in-game tribute?
A: It was thought of the Grand Chase Team and the game developers KOG right at the bat when we heard the news that the late president passed away last Aug 1
Q: What is Cory's significance to Grand Chase? Why the tribute?
